Description Legend:
Like many book dealers, we use quite a bit of shorthand in our descriptions. Here are some of the most common terms, and their meanings:

8vo or octavo = An average-sized book, about 8-10 inches high

4to or quarto = Books are somewhat larger, perhaps 11-13 inches high

folio = A very large book, 13+ inches

o.n. = Owner's name inscribed somewhere (we usually don't mention these or gift inscriptions unless unusual, famous, notorious)

ex-lib. = Ex-library, usually implying library markings are present

w/gilt = With gilt lettering and/or designs on cover

aeg = All edges gilt

teg = Top edge gilt

w.a.f. = With all faults, and such titles customarily are not returnable

b.o.c. = Because of condition

o.p. = Out-of-print, no longer available at publisher's issued price

pict. = Pictorial cover

o/w = Otherwise

n.d. = No date

n.p. = No place (references to date and place of publication)

dbd = Disbound, i.e. removed from a book, document, monograph, etc.

USGS = United States Geological Survey

Condition ratings are: G = good; VG = very good; NF = near fine; F = fine; VF = very fine.

Q: I saw a category &/or certain titles advertised on your site but could not find any more details?
A: Many Catalogues have yet to be indexed by individual title. I.E. Magazines and Periodicals. We have Hundreds of Old Magazine Titles and hundreds of Vintage issues with in those titles. We have listed the Category &/or Titles to let you know that we have them. Please Contact Us with your inquiry or interest and we will be happy to look something up or give you more specific information about books, sets, individual issues, or catalogs. Please sign the Contact Us and keep up to date on your favorite subjects or titles.

Q:Some Categories say "Coming Soon", what does that mean?
A: We have thousands of Books in wide range of categories. We are currently in the process of indexing all the titles to post for sale. (See About Us, for more details) By placing the category on the site we are encouraging book enthusiasts to Contact Us & let us know of your interests. We may have what your looking for or may come across it very soon. Many areas of our inventory have yet to be indexed due to large content and popularity based on previous customer interests.... Q: Why do some titles have full descriptions and some just a listing?
A: This due to our large inventory. So as to offer our customers the best variety, we are currently doing our best to get all our titles listed. As these books are old, many have been in our possessionl

for quite some time. Many titles were fully described and had been worked with more than others. We are happy to offer any additional information you are interested in. Please Contact Us with your interested and how we may help you.

Q: Why do some categories only have 1-5 books in them?
A: Some categories are small in content because we have only indexed a few books with in this area. If you find a page or category on our site it means we have much content in that area. We have created a page for it because we know we have more content to go here. Please Contact Us with your interests if you don't find what your looking for.
