Sporadic watermarks on pages, mainly on the upper margin corners of pages, occasionally down sides, but rarely in text. Otherwise text is tight and Very Good.

Otherwise interior is tight, clean and Very Good. Archibald Alison (13 November 1757, Edinburgh-17 May 1839) was a Scottish didactic and philosophical writer.

Cover corners are bumped and rubbed, edges lightly rubbed, fading along joints, some light soiling. Volume II has bubbling on back cover. Both volumes spines are significantly faded from sun exposure, spine ends are bent and starting to fray. Volume I has some small tears on spine and water circles. Gilt top page edges, and rest of page edges are uncut and chipped. Interior pages are lightly browning along edges and some pages have light foxing, otherwise clean. Profusely illustrated. Books in VG- condition.
