"This little story of the BOY EMIGRANTS is written that you and other boys like you may learn something of the strange, eventful history of the early overland travelers to California....this is a historical sketch...,many of the characters were real people; and almost all the incidents which befall the Boy Emigrants came under my own observation, or under that of people whom I knew on the trail or in California." 309 pp. 19 illustrations by Thomas Moran and W. L. Sheppard. Gray cloth with illustrated front cover. Soiling to covers and spine. Spine dulled and lettering hard to read. Top page ends blue with slight color run to side edge. It appears the blue is ink? Does not "bleed" into interior. Bottom edge soiled. Otherwise exterior is Good. Bookplate of previous owner: G.W. Stanford on front endpaper. Otherwise interior is tight, clean and Very Good. Scarce title. Noah Brooks (1830-1903) was a journalist and editor who worked for newspapers in Sacramento, San Francisco, Newark, and New York. He was a frequent visitor to the White House and a friend of President Lincoln. Thomas Moran (1837 - 1926) was a painter, etcher, illustrator, engraver, and lithographer.
