Equations. Boston: Hilliard, Gray, Little, and Wilkins, 1828. Third Edition. Size: Approx. 5 1/2" x 9 3/4". Grayish Blue. Math. Good John Farrar writes in the "Introduction", or Advertisement as it is called in the book, "None but those who are just entering upon the study of Mathematics need to be informed of the high character of Euler's Algebra. It has been allowed to hold the very first place among elementary works upon this subject. The author was a man of genius....The author is remarkable also for his illustrations. He teaches by instances. He presents one example after another, each evident by itself, and each throwing some new light upon the subject, till the reader begins to anticipate for himself the truth to be inculcated" Euler was a Swiss mathematician who was tutored by Johann Bernoulli. He worked at the Petersburg Academy and Berlin Academy of Science. Euler was the most prolific mathematical writer of all times finding time (even with his 13 children) to publish over 800 papers in his lifetime. He won the Paris Academy Prize 12 times.
