English, Compiled and Abstrated by James Collier. "The work consists of three large Divisions. Each comprises a set of Tables exhibiting the facts as abstracted and classified, and a mass of quotations and abridged extracts, otherwise classified, on which the statements contained in the Tables are based. ... The three Divisions, each thus constituted, comprehend three groups of societies: --(1) Uncivilized Societies; (2) Civilized Societies--Extinct or Decayed; (3) Civilized Societies--Recent or Still Flourishing." 70 pp. Seven two-page tables. Large folio with paper boards and cloth spine. Front cover is separated from rest of folio, covers are dirty from wear and use, watermarks, creasing. Corners and edges are rubbed with boards exposed. Tears to cloth spine with fraying and sections missing, pulled away from spine to expose interior. Ex. museum numbers on front cover spine edge, front free endpaper. Gift inscription written on front free endpaper. First ten pages are almost completely separated from rest of document, attached only by a small string. Interior page corners are creased and bent, chipping and browning along edges. Dirt smudges to back endpaper and inside cover. Folio in Poor to Good condition. Scarce.
