PROCEEDINGS IN CONNECTION WITH THE FORMAL PRESENTATION OF A REPRODUCTION OF A BUST OF WASHINGTON By Certain Citizens of the Republic of France. 58th Congress, 3d Session. Senate. Report No. 4397. "April 28, 1904, the bronze bust of Washington presented to the Congress of the United States by the Count de Rochambeau, Marquis de Lafayette, Marquis de Grasse, Mr. Henry Jouin, and other citizens of France, was placed in a conspicuous position in the Rotunda of the Capitol." 45 pp. including a "List of Subscribers to the Bust of George Washington Offered to the United States" and Appendices: A. Official Correspondence; B. George Washington, by David D'Angers. "Bronze Offered by France to the United States to Replace the Marble Destroyed by Fire in 1851."(Translation of the book deposited by the French ambassador in the bronze receptacle on the front of the pedestal of the Washington bust) 2 Plates of the bust, each protected by a tissue guard. David d'Angers, was a French sculptor. David's fame rests firmly on his pediment of the Pantheon, his marble Wounded Philopoemen in the Louvre and his monument to General Gobert in Père Lachaise Cemetery.

"When John F. Kennedy was inaugurated on January 20, 1961, a heavy snow blanketed Washington, D. C. As a result, a number of copies of the Official Inauguration Book were left unsold. These books have been augmented by three special pictorial sections -- one on the inaugural ceremonies (including the memorable inaugural address); another on the death and state funeral of President Kennedy; and a third on the first 30 days in office of President Lyndon B. Johnson." This is Copy No. 351D of the Memorial Edition of the John F. Kennedy Inaugural Book, signed by E. H. Foley, General Chairman of the Inaugural Committee. Blue boards with embossed title and Presidential Seal on front cover, along with previous owner's name (Mr. Joseph E. Regan) embossed on lower front cover. Cover corners are bumped and rubbing to face. Main section of interior pages is pulling away from the spine, but still attached. Interior pages are browning with some minor stains, but text and images are not affected. Overall book in Good condition.

"I return, for reconsideration, a bill entitled " An act for the admission of the State of Nebraska into the Union" which originated in the Senate, and has received the assent of both Houses of Congress..." 4 pp. Famous American in document: Andrew Johnson, President; Schuyler Colfax, Speaker of the House of Representatives (1823-1885) Aside from being Speaker of the House, Colfax was the seventeenth Vice President of the United States; and Lafayette Sabin Foster, President of the Senate pro tempore (1806-1880), who was an American politician and lawyer from Connecticut,serving in the United States Senate from 1855 to 1867 and a judge in the Connecticut Supreme Court from 1870 to 1876. Disbound. Otherwise document is clean, tight and VG+.
